Quitting Smoking - Here's How It Works
Hypnosis, ear acupuncture, and counseling—three treatments in one session.
Quitting smoking with me starts with a conversation where we’ll talk about, among other things, what the main reason was for you starting to smoke: What were you hoping to achieve? Was it because your friends smoked too? Was it about looking cool? Or maybe you were rebelling against your parents? Or was there a completely different reason?
Next, we’ll talk about why you still smoke and all the different kinds of cigarettes people smoke: habit cigarettes, reward cigarettes, party cigarettes, and so on, as well as the different types of smokers out there.
It’s important to discuss whether you’ve tried to quit before, what went wrong, and to give you the tools to shift your mindset, as well as an understanding of how smokers lie to themselves.
After the session, you’ll have ear needles inserted. These are very small needles that you’ll keep in for the next seven to ten days. Small bandages will be placed over them, so you can easily shower while they’re in. The needles help alleviate the physical symptoms you may experience when you quit, and they also help you feel more calm.
Then you’ll be hypnotized. Hypnosis helps alleviate the psychological symptoms you may experience when quitting smoking. Not everyone experiences this, but some people feel down when they quit: They might find themselves constantly thinking about cigarettes, and that’s where hypnosis can help. Hypnosis also alters your memories of smoking and reinforces the wonderful feeling of being a non-smoker.
We’ll wrap things up by checking to see if everything is clear and how you feel about it.
